No Dolby Surround for Wii

In the latest documentation supplied to developers about the Wii, it has been revealed that the Wii will have no optical output meaning that it isn’t even possible to have Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound for the Wii. This isn’t final but I think that it is unlikely that the Wii will be able to give Dolby Surround Sound because I cannot see Nintendo including something like this especially considering that they didn’t have surround sound for the GameCube. I think that the sound output for the Wii will be similar to the GameCube.

I don’t think its that much of a loss because I don’t think its really necessary for the Wii, especially considering the speaker built into the WiiMote.
This isn’t a big lose for me since I rarely use the Wide Screen TV for gaming unless it’s intense and hard-core with a lot of players.
But it is a dissapointment that they aren’t willing to upgrade the sound features from GameCube
wii hardware is just boolshit exept the controller.
no hard disk, 512 flash and no surround sound.
