Nintendo Registers New Trademarks

Nintendo has recently filed 3 new trademarks at the Japanese Patent Office all relating to the Wii. The trademarks that they have filed are
- WiiCulture
- WiiPointer
- !!M
Very little is known about these trademarks at the minute but there has been a lot of speculation regarding them and what they relate to regarding the Wii. It has been suggested that WiiCulture could be a possible community type feature on WiiConnect24, there have been other ideas on what it is but this seems the most logical. WiiPointer seems as though it is likely to relate in some way to the control method of the Wii. It could also refere to a control interface in the console or possibly relate to the way in which Opera is run on the Wii.
The last of the trademarks seems to be the most interesting. For those of you that haven’t realised yet !!M is Wii upside-down. There have been rumours saying that a instant messaging system will be included on the Wii, these came after Nintendo filed another patent for something that sounds like an instant messaging system, and many now think that this will be the name of said instant messenger.

I think that the !!M sounds quite interesting and it is really clever the way Nintendo have played with letters, similar to what they did with Mario and Wario.
An instant messenger on the Wii would have worked a lot better if they did include a microphone in the wii controller, but its still a great idea.
