I am sure Wii will allow exteranal HD support. I think this is one of the better moves Wii have over Xbox360 and PS3 with their internal HD. Plus SD card capacity have greatly increase this yr and will continue to do so over time. So it too will be a viable means of storage. VERY SMART MOVE BY NINTENDO...
