CNN Rumour Proved Wrong

In the past few days a rumour has spread around the internet that Nintendo are planning to release the Wii around September, which is a lot earlier than everyone had previously expected. The rumour had originated from the Money section of CNN, which suggested an earlier launch because they believe that Nintendo is already making the final models of the Wii, which will be sold at launch. Now a Nintendo spokesperson has quickly proved these rumours to be completely false in saying that;

There’s no change in our plan to release the console in the last quarter of this year. We are planning an announcement in September and it may be causing some confusion.

From the statement it is clear that the console will not be released in September, but it is likely that it is then when we will receive the full details about the launch of the Wii including its price and launch date. However, this doesn’t rule out the fact that the Wii could still be launched in October a lot earlier than the PS3 in an attempt to gain the upper hand over their Japanese rivals, Sony.
