Toys ‘R’ Us is going to be giving away 25,000 Wiis in conjunction with NBC’s Deal or No Deal gameshow. Here’s how the promotion is going to work.
Weekly circulars from Oct. 1 to Oct. 28 carry two cut-out game pieces — shaped like the suitcases used on the program — that shoppers bring to stores. There, they can turn in either the “Deal game piece, which awards 10% off one item, or the “No Deal piece that provides entry into the game. Shoppers opting for “No Deal have their suitcase scanned to see if they’ve won a prize or a 5% discount on one item. They can play each week after receiving new game pieces.
The promotion dangles a grand-prize $1 million and a trip to Los Angeles to attend the show. Nintendo Wii game consoles will be awarded to 25,000 entrants. Additional prizes include products from co-sponsors Schwinn, Nintendo, Sony and LeapFrog Enterprises. The promotion was timed to coincide with the September launch of Deal or No Deal ’s second season.
