Stock Problems in UK
Published by WiiMan on December 7th, 2006Three UK retailers are not going to be getting enough Wiis on Friday to cover the pre-orders that they have received. The three shops that haven’t got their full allocation of Wiis from Nintendo are WoolWorth’s, GamePlay and Argos.
If you’ve got an e-mail like the one below from GamePlay then you aren’t going to be getting your Wii this Friday, but in consolation you’ll get £10 off your next online purchase.
Dear Customer (Note: this customer’s named has been changed to just “customer”)
Recently we sent you an email confirming that you would be receiving order **** for release date on Friday 08/12/06.
This date was based on delivery of all of our launch stock arriving in time for us to pick, pack and despatch to you. This is a precautionary email as we are still awaiting part of our allocation from Nintendo to arrive and subsequently, we won’t be able to ship your order in time for Friday. We can assure you that a console will be with you within the week and you should not be concerned if it is a Christmas gift. We will continue to communicate with you regularly about availability over the next 72 hours.
Our sincere apologies for this situation, please accept this £10 off e-voucher for your next order, we understand this doesn’t come close to the joy of receiving a new console but hope it will go some way to ease the inconvenience caused from this delay.
£10 off e-voucher code – ****
Once again, please accept our apologies for this situation and thanks for your understanding.
Please note that obviously your card has not been charged for this order and won’t be until we despatch.
Regards
Gameplay Crew
This is WoolWorth’s reasoning behind not being able to fulfill all their preorders.
“Nintendo have only shipped part of the promised stock for Nintendo Wii to all retailers within the UK. Due to this, we have only received part of our allocation. We are led to believe by Nintendo that we will receive all stock in time for pre-Christmas delivery. Please accept our apologies for this delay.”
As of yet Argos haven’t released a statement.

I preordered mine with GAME, so hopefully there won’t be any problems with them
To be honest mate, i reckon everywhere will have some kind of problems with supply and demand, no matter how small the problem is. Good luck to getting it, im still hoping to get mine before xmas never mind friday.
Here’s an emal I got today from HMV. Seems like they are making a decent effort to keep us informed in difficult circumstances.
Subject: Update on your Wii Order
We just wanted to let you know that you’re guaranteed to receive your Nintendo Wii, and that, to secure the stock, we have now taken your payment.
We were hoping to get your console to you on the official launch date of Friday 8th December but, because the latest delivery has been delayed by Nintendo, we might not now be able to. We’ll be receiving the stock soon though and will be sending your console out by next-day courier as soon as it arrives.
We appreciate that this is frustrating and we’re doing everything we can to speed up the delivery from Nintendo.
Got my email from Game to say mine is on its way!!!!! Screw you suckers!
I still can’t get hold of one
I was told that when I ordered my Wii from a catalogue that it would be 8-10wks for delivery… It’s been 11 weeks so far and no word on when it will be delivered. Where the heck are all the wii
