“Wii Certificate Program” Explained
Published by Jeremy on December 18th, 2007Good News: If you go to GameStop this Friday, 12/21/07, you’ll be able to purchase a “Wii Certificate” that guarantees you a Nintendo Wii.
Bad News: You won’t be able to pick up your already purchased console until January 25th… that’s right - over a month.

So pretty much, this is how it boils down… you give them $250… you get an I.O.U… then you sit on it for a month.
You might be asking yourself… what does a $250 certificate look like? Well, the certificate will be in a custom-designed DVD case featuring a picture of Mario and the Wii on the cover. (Sounds worth it to me - what do you think?)
Kotaku makes a pretty funny point about this new program…
So let me get this straight, you give GameStop your $250 and they get to sit on it for a full month, earning interest, and in return you get an empty DVD case and eventually a Wii? The least they could have done is thrown in a T-Shirt that read: “My Parents Waited Too Long to Shop for Me So All I Got for Christmas was this Shirt and a Lot of Empty Promises. See you in Therapy in Five Years.”
But in all seriousness, you can make your reservation at any GameStop or EB Games location in the US (this includes Puerto Rico and Hawaii). Since the number of reservations available at each store is limited only one per household can be reserved.
