If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.

After less than a month on the market the exercise balance board, better known as Wii Fit, has surpassed the 1 million units sold mark.

Wii Fit

Just a few weeks ago I wrote about Wii Fit being a hit… selling more than 100,000 units in it’s first full week in release.

GameIndustry.biz lets you in on everything that comes bundled with Wii Fit…

The package consists of the Wii Balance Board peripheral and software that simulates an exercise workout, using more than 40 types of training activities, as well as keeping track of a users BMI and other stats on a new Wii Channel.

Hopefully Wii Fit will get the same love when it’s released here in the states shortly.

Well, I’m curious as to whether Nintendo knows how to make an intentional fitness game fun. Did they know that WiiSports and Wii DDR would be of great interest to the fitness industry? If you’ve been to a group fitness class lately, you know nothing new is happening in the aerobics room. Virtual Fitness via Wii will be the shot in the arm the industry needs to get people back into the gym and into group fitness classes with a whole new attitude and energy.

Today we debuted the first ever group fitness DDR Hottest Party class. It was fun and physically challenging and all participants (around 50 years of age) were playing at EXPERT level!

With the proper tweaking, Nintendo could make current games even more physically challenging and fun!
