Cigarette Smoke Damages Wii

Recently, Nintendo has said that smoking around your Wii can cause certain residues to build up on the inner workings of the console, causing it to improperly work. This “confession” is on the heels of all the complaints by gamers in Japan whose consoles couldn’t play Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

No Smoking

TechRadar.com tells how smoking around your Wii could harm it…

And so it turns out that the tobacco deposits in cigarette smoke can build up on the lens inside the disc drive of the Wii, causing it to lose its focus. This lack of focus doesn’t seem to be a problem with single-layer discs, but with the SSBB dual-layer disc, some smokers are having real problems.

The other day I posted about dirty lenses being the cause for all the SSBB playback problems. Who would’ve thought that smoking could have been the culprit causing all the problems.

This is pretty much common sense. Smoke and residue is not good for anything using lasers, lights or lenses. Then again, you can always clean it.

Wii Repair: Yes, this is very much common sense… but I was just “putting it out there” for the few people that don’t know it’s bad for electronical items.
