Mario, Mario, and Samus (E3 Wrap-Up)!!!

I’m going to be honest, I have mixed feelings about Nintendo’s conference at E3 yesterday. They did some things right and some things not so right in my opinion. I understand that the DS has a massive user base, and they want/expect the DSi to be the same, so they have to present them in full. I also understand that Nintendo has become synonymous with “casual” so they need to showcase their new “Everyone’s Game” mantra as much as possible. In those aspects I’m sure Reggie and Co. feel like they hit it out of the park. The problem is, I know I’m not the only one left wanting more. I’m gathering all my thoughts and will wait until the end of the week before I put them together, and hope to have a nice long post for you all to read. This is not that post. This is where I’m going to show you the three things that blew me out of the water yesterday.

Rumors started circulating late Monday/early Tuesday about a Super Mario Wii announcement. When rumors break that late you can bet that it’s basically confirmed. It did not take Cammie long at all to do just that and announce Super Mario Bros. Wii!! The game looked how you’d want it to, and that is just fine. They’ve made it up to 4 player and looks to be a mix of competitive/co-op, which I find brilliant. There will be tons and tons of info on this game to come and you know I’m going to share it with you all. The best thing about this announcement is that it’s Nintendo, you know they are going to do Mario justice. That means this game will be epic. Just knowing that this game is on its way this year is awesome, I can’t wait to play it this holiday season! In case you missed it I’m putting the two part E3 demo below for your enjoyment.

So, that gets Mario out of the way for this year’s E3….or does it? Is there anyone in the world, that doesn’t work for Nintendo, that expected to hear about two Mario games? I know I sure didn’t, and judging from the crowd’s response I don’t think they did either. Luckily for us Reggie was in a sharing mood as the company debuted Mario Galaxy 2!! If you loved the original, and who didn’t, then this one is for you. You just know the team is fixing the few flaws from Galaxy and will add enough new features to it’s sequel to make this a must have title. The one negative about this announcement was all we got was a trailer. No release date or even window. I’m sure it’ll be sometime 2010, but would like at least a quarter to work with. Still, the trailer was beautiful and you can find it posted just below.

Well, now that we’ve had two HUGE announcements from the Big N you’ve got to think that’s all they have. You’d be wrong. Not only did they announce the next chapter in one of Nintendo’s most storied franchise, they’ve teamed with the creators of another huge franchise. Team Ninja are the same guys that delivered the ridiculously popular Ninja Gaiden series to console owners worldwide. Now they have decided to take on the beautiful Samus Aran in Metroid:Other M. I’m sure you’ve seen the trailer by now and were as impressed as I was. It looked stunning. With the Prime Trilogy releasing soon and Other M set for a holiday ‘09 release, this is the year of Samus. If anyone thought Nintendo was getting soft and couldn’t bring hardcore games themselves, think again. If you’ve ever played a Ninja Gaiden game then you know they are as hardcore as it gets. I can’t wait to see Samus get seriously brutal!! The debut trailer for Metroid:Other M is below, you know the drill.
