Blowin’ In The Wind…
Published by Mike W on September 2nd, 2009I remember being a kid and being made to mow the lawn. As the only male in the house, I guess I was the logical choice. This was the Pre-Obama era 90’s, I couldn’t claim sexism. But, that’s basically what it was. I mean, who says the boy of the house has to be the one mowing? And what the hell were my sisters doing while I was sweating in the yard? When I have a baby I’m breaking that cycle. It doesn’t matter if I have a boy or a girl, they are mowing the yard. This has nothing to do with the Wii at all, it’s more the fact that I haven’t had the time to mow my own lawn now. I want to mow it. Maybe that’s growing up, you want cut your grass. I mean, it’s my grass, who else should cut it?!? Maybe this weekend, who knows… So, umm, yeah I don’t have a witty segue for this. I think we’ll both live.
I’m not going to lie to you, I don’t play/own/rent/demo every game that I write about. Even if I had the funds to be able to pull that off, there’s just no time. I mean, I’ve got the Amazon happening outside, games aren’t a priority. It also has to do with so many games being disappointing. Not the ones that I write about of course, they are all amazing, those of you who bought Daisy Fuentes Pilates can attest to that. But there are just so many games that simply don’t do it for me. Fortunately, a little WiiWare game developed by Frontier Games out of the UK did not have that problem. Lost Winds was an amazing game, in every way. It had the style, innovation, look, and simplicity that I look for in a game. Not only that, but Mrs. Mike enjoyed it as well. (Side note: I realize I talk about my wife a lot here, and don’t remember if I’ve referred to her first name or not. Either way, she’ll be Mrs. Mike from here on out.) When I can turn on a game and she likes it, you know it’s good. That doesn’t mean that if she doesn’t like it it sucks, I’m just saying that I’ve never seen a crap game that she liked. Well, she did have a thing for Disney movie tie-in games for a bit, but that’s neither here nor there. What is here, or will be sometime is “LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias”. This game has no sort of release date yet, but should soon. What it does have is new elements and seasons, as well as the pedigree of the original. This is a game we should all be on the lookout for, and stay tuned here at The Spin for much more on the game in the coming months. By now you’re thirsty for a trailer and I aim to please, so check below. Enjoy and stay thirsty my friends.
