Sleeping All Day…
Published by Mike W on September 8th, 2009‘Cause where I go, I leave no prints; sleeping all day must be the way to go…. Yesterday I slept until like 11am, and it was nice. Actually, it was kind of awesome. Typically I have to be at work at 6:30 so my body is set to an early wake up. I remember when I could easily sleep until 2 or 3 with no worries. Now, even sleeping till 11 on Labor Day puts me in a panic. That feeling of “Great, I have so much to do that there’s no way it will all get done and it’s going to annoy one of us and at some point we’re going to have to argue about it which will take more time and even less will get done”, is one that I hate. I don’t know if it’s me getting old, or the fact that I have a house now that still needs stuff done to it (side note: The place is really coming together and yesterday I managed to squeeze in time to mow the backyard, which was awesome!!). Thinking about it, it’s probably a combination of the two. The saddest part about it is, I don’t see it getting easier. I mean, one day we’re going to have a baby. Take away all the freak-outs I have about having a baby, where the hell do you find time for one??? I have no clue how people can manage it all, and actually come through for their kids. I know it happens, it’s just thinking about it uber-confusing. Like, I think it’s more confusing than how TV’s work. (Side note: Seriously, how do they work? I’ve read all the science but, does it really make sense that one day these people put this clear black “film” in a camera, hit a button, then sent it to NBC or whoever, and they put the tape that held that film in another thing, pushed some more buttons, and it wound up on my TV?? I don’t care what you tell me, there’s no one alive that thinks all that makes sense.) Yeah, so that’s where I’m at: comparing tv’s with babies, sleeping too much, and getting excited about mowing the lawn. I’m pretty sure I’m not losing it though…
So, there was another conference over the weekend, PAX (Penny Arcade Expo). I don’t really get it, what is Penny Arcade?? To someone who thinks logically, like myself, it sounds like a place where you can play arcade games for a penny. Or, the most awesome place on Earth. I know that’s not what it is, and am pretty sure it’s a more indie-game type of conference. Maybe I’m too mainstream to get invited, yeah, that’s what I’ll put it on. I need to be more underground and stop selling out. Although, I think you need people to be aware you exist before you can sell out. That’s just me though…. It’s not all indie games at PAX though, nope our favorite French publisher Ubisoft showed up big time. They came with Suda (Most. BA. Name. Ever) 51 to show off Travis Touchdown’s final run on the Wii, No More Heroes 2: Desparate Struggle. If I was forced to pick two Wii games that would serve as the final two I would ever be able to play, NMH2 would definitely be on that list. And I haven’t even played it yet! This game will be the complete package, and I do hope Suda decides to stick with the Wii, even if its sans Travis Touchdown. I’m pretty sure I’ve pointed out that I wasn’t at PAX, but other people were. Luckily for you and I, these “other people” have posted 10 minutes of gameplay as well as a ridiculously cool trailer featuring Mr. 51 himself. No More Heroes 2: Desparate Struggle is gearing up for a January, 28 release date. Trust me, it will be here before you know it. Below you’ll find NMH2 gameplay, trailers, and the source of inspiration for the first line of this post. Enjoy, and stay thirsty my friends.
