The Un-boxing of MySims: Agents!!!
Published by Mike W on September 24th, 2009Today is a very special day for yours truly. For today, I hit the big time. The fruits of my labor came to…fruition (Does that even work??). As you all know I was recently invited to the MySims studios of EA in Redwood, California. Well, today I received a review copy of MySims: Agents, only the most impressive game we saw at EA. That’s right, I have a copy of the game before anyone else. Well, probably not anyone else, but before almost everyone else. I mean, do you have a copy of the game right now sitting in your Wii waiting for you to get back to mystery solving goodness?? I didn’t think so. Anyway, I read all sorts of blogs and check out all sorts of websites. Not the dirty kind mind you, we keep it clean here at The Spin. One trend that I’ve noticed on all of these sites, especially the tech-centric sites, are “unboxing” specials. These are basically where the sites get their hands on an unreleased product, open it up, then post it up on their site to show it to the world. It’s basically a way of saying, “I’ve got something you don’t, how do you like them apples?” Now, these “big-time” sites may have done this for a new Mac, iPhone, PS3 or some other uber hi-tech device. That’s all well and good, but the same unboxing will be done on multiple sites. It’s nothing exclusive, nothing special at all. Any Joe with a camera could do an unboxing of a new iPhone. Whoopdeefreakingdoo. (Side note: For added effect you should know that as I was typing whoopdeefreakingdoo I also rolled my eyes at the thought of other sites thinking they were the poo for doing “unboxings” that are regurgitated all over the web. Also, this side note was just an excuse for me to type whoopdeefreakingdoo a couple more times.)
Here at The Spin we strive for excellence and glory. That’s why we are doing the world’s first*, and only**, unboxing of MySims:Agents!! You can check out the pictures of the glorious event below, I’ve even got some patented “blurry and shaky cam pics” included for authenticity. (Side note: The blurry cam pics have nothing to do with my hand shaking for no reason whatsoever, or by the fact that my digital camera was the same one used to film the first moon landing.) Tomorrow I’ll give you a sneak preview of the title to be followed by the review of the game early next week. By early next week I mean probably Monday evening, which is before the game is out. I’ll be able to post up a full review of the game because I already have the game, just in case you forgot. I have the game because I have major skittles. Taste the rainbow. Enjoy, and stay thirsty my friends.
I’d also like to give a big Montell Jordan style shout out to Angie Newman & Rachel Steinberg who do PR for the Play Label of EA for looking out for me, and The Spin. Also, a grateful nod of respect and appreciation to Rachel Bernstein and Geoff Mitchell for allowing me an early look at a game I know they’ve put a lot of love and dedication into. I can’t promise that I’ll never say anything bad about EA, but you guys will always be saints in my book.
*In no way did I do any research to find out if this was truly the world’s first Agents unboxing. But, I haven’t seen one, so to me that means it hasn’t happened. Yes, I use the logic that states, “If I haven’t seen it, it doesn’t exist.”
**As stated above, through my lack of research for other unboxings, and going on sheer faith that mine is the first, I could be wrong about being the only one. If there are others though, I can guarantee that I thought of doing it first. And by guarantee I mean I guarantee that no one called, texted, emailed, or made me aware in any way of their plans to do an unboxing of MySims:Agents. So, that means that no one has, or plans on doing one. Until they read mine of course. Then they’ll copy my idea. So, I call dibs. Take that.

Are you going to review the game? Just curious.
I bought it Day 2 because Wal-Mart didn’t have it Day 1. Hehe. I really enjoyed it. I just wanted to see if you felt the same way.
Yeah, I’ll be reviewing it for sure. Plan on getting it up tomorrow for you guys. It’s definitely a bit of fun to play.
