MySims Agents Preview & Red Steel 2!!!
Published by Mike W on September 27th, 2009Yes, I know I told you all I’d have the preview for MySims:Agents up on Friday, and today is Sunday. I had to go be a supportive husband and help Mrs. Mike with an event at Tech that she was doing. It was parents day in fact, it’s always amusing when there’s parents day at colleges, especially one like Ga. Tech. Definitely a diverse crowd. I planned on putting this up that evening, but as soon as I set down to type it up we had some friends come over. Then yesterday was Saturday, which is for college football and my beloved Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, who had an amazing comeback in the final few minutes thanks to Jimmy Clausen. So, you’re getting the preview of Agents today, and I’m also giving you a bonus in the form of a Red Steel 2 developer diary direct from Tokyo Games Show. So, let’s jump right into it.
As it stands now I’m a few hours into MySims Agents, and I’m definitely impressed with what I’ve played so far. The basic setup for the game is your pal, Buddy, is reminiscing on his years as a comic book artist and his popular series based on special agents. You and Buddy grew up as friends in the neighborhood, and when you fulfilled your dream of becoming a special agent, Buddy came along and created a comic based on your adventures together. The setup is very cool, and definitely goes hand in hand with the comic book feel of the game, especially the opening sequence. After solving a crime or two, you get promoted to a full on special agent, and outfitted with your own HQ in the city. Your headquarters come fully equipped with an emo secretary in the vain of Daria (yes, I’m old enough to remember Daria…), a scientist who will teach you about your gadgets (she can also analyze anything you find in the field for you), and you also get the Derobinator 2000 which houses all your clothes and gear.

At the very beginning of the game you are introduced to Morcubus, the villain of the game. At first you seem to think Morcubus is just weird and kind of creepy, but you quickly begin to learn that he, and his Morcucorp, are behind most of the shady doings in the city. So, it’s up to us to bring him down. Agents is definitely geared towards a younger audience, but there are jokes in there for adults as well. I’ve already come across lines about the economy being shot to hell, and the uselessness of the once very useful phone booths. There is a lot of dialog in the game, and it being in Simlish you have to read it all. Luckily, I haven’t bored of any of it yet. I have a feeling that MS:A is really about to get going for me, and can’t wait. The game looks good, controls good, and all in all is just fun to play so far. The dev. team definitely did a solid job on this title. Like I said, I’ll have the full review up tomorrow, so make sure you stay tuned for that.
So, this was just a quick little sneak peak of the game, and a quaint little post for your enjoyment on this Sunday afternoon. I leave you at 4 minutes into NFL Sunday (and my Falcons about to put it on them Pats!) with the latest developer’s diary for Red Steel 2. As you all know, I think Red Steel 2 has the potential to be the most BA and excellent game on the Wii, and this video straight from the team at TGS goes a long way in confirming that. RS2 looks awesome, and I hope to be able to give you guys much more info on the title from Ubisoft in the months leading up to its release. For now, check the video, wait patiently for the MySims:Agents review, enjoy, and stay thirsty my friends.
