Squeeballs v. Spore Hero: Unboxing Style!!!

You know the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words”? Well, then this post is going to be worth like eleventy thousand. I don’t mean that in the literal sense. If I did I think that’d add up to me posting like 111 pictures or something? I don’t know, I’m not a math guy. In fact, I hate math. Not the simple “cashier math”, I’m super good at that. I’m talking about the math where they decided that you could add/subtract/multiply/divide letters, numbers, and shapes. What the hell is with that? I don’t know how to multiply the square of q and a triangle. But, I can tell you that if my total is $14.73 and I give you a twenty dollar bill, I better be getting my $5.27 change back. And yes, I did that all in my head. I’m telling you, it’s this crazy skill I have, but I can think of change on a dime. You guys see what I did there? With the pun and all that? How I was talking about change and then I said “on a dime”? Yeah, I’m kind of a literary genius.

You know what else is kind of genius? Getting hooked up with free games. Not just getting hooked up with games, but being caught almost completely off-guard by them. Like yesterday’s arrival of Squeeballs for instance. I knew that PDP wanted to send me a game, and I even knew that somethingwas being shipped to me, I just had no idea what it was. Then I find what some would call a massive crate on my front step yesterday afternoon. This wasn’t a box, but a crate. What I found was by far the most impressive marketing package I’ve ever seen for a game. Luckily, my 1935 digital camera is still working so I documented the unboxing. By “documented” I mean, I put everything back, closed the box, and re-opened it today to take pictures. Yeah, you can consider the following pictures a dramatic re-enacting of yesterday’s events. Oh, and this dramatic re-enacting was based on actual real life events. It’s about to get all SVU up in here!!

(The stuffed “animal” thingamanuts in the box are what are known as “Squeeballs”. They are the inspiration for the game. Or, they were inspired by the game…..it’s one of those two.)

These companies sending me packages could get dangerous. Like today for instance, I got another package. Out of the blue. Of course, I opened it right up. What if it was Anthrax or something?? (Side note: Is Anthrax even still a threat? Not Anthrax the crappy 80’s metal band with that dude who has the most obnoxious goatee ever, I mean the poison. I remember after 9/11 everyone was scared as hell of it. Now we’re afraid of the economy. Wow….) I could have died. Luckily, I didn’t. What if I said I did die? And I was typing this from the great beyond? I bet my site views would go through the freaking roof! Anyway, upon opening this mysterious package that may or may not have been Anthrax, I was surprised. I thought I got punked and someone sent me a happy meal. It wasn’t a happy meal though, it was the Spore Hero Fun Box! This was the first time I’ve got a fun box in the mail, so I had to dig in and see what it was all about. Before I do, I’d like to send a Bell Biv Devoe style shout-out to Nikki Flynn at EA for setting me up with Spore Hero. I’ll try to get a bit of a preview of the game up for you guys tomorrow. Until then, you all know the drill. Enjoy and stay thirsty my friends.
